How will this replace SMS for Google?

We will provide QR-based verification sessions that integrate into account creation flows where Google requests a verification method. Once integrated, the QR session will serve the verification step instead of an SMS code.

Is this safe for production?

During beta, we will be focused on security audits, rate limiting, and fraud-prevention controls. Production readiness and hardening will be communicated prior to general availability.
